Warranty & Return Policy
Last updated 31 October 2026. This policy is incorporated into our Terms of Service and should be read with our Limitation of Liability Policy.
Our standard warranty — one year
Every new part we sell carries a one-year warranty from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship.
- Get an RMA first. Contact us before returning anything. Parts sent back without an approved RMA may be refused.
- Return freight is the customer's responsibility on all warranty returns. We cannot accept freight-collect shipments.
- Evaluation comes before the remedy. We evaluate the returned part, then issue a replacement or a credit. We do not ship advance replacements against an unevaluated claim.
- The remedy is repair, replacement or refund of the purchase price, at our discretion — see Limitation of Liability.
Lithium battery packs carry longer manufacturer warranties that supersede this one-year term. See Lithium battery warranties below.
What the warranty does not cover
- Abuse, misuse, neglect or physical damage by the customer
- Incorrect application — a part specified, selected or fitted for the wrong voltage, current rating, interface or vehicle
- Improper installation, wiring, programming or configuration
- Use outside the manufacturer's published specifications or ratings
- Modification, repair or alteration by anyone other than us or the manufacturer
- Water intrusion, corrosion, impact, fire or extreme temperature exposure
- Normal wear, and normal capacity loss on a battery
- Damage caused by other components in the system, by an external charger or power source, or by the vehicle itself
If evaluation shows the failure falls into one of these categories, the claim is declined and any repair is quoted separately before we proceed.
Returns for credit — 30 days
Separate from warranty. If you simply want to send a part back:
- 30 days from the date of purchase to request the return.
- 25% restocking fee applies. This fee is for credit returns only — it is never charged on a warranty claim.
- The part must be unused, undamaged and complete, in its original packaging with all documentation and accessories.
- An approved RMA is required before you ship, and return freight is the customer's responsibility.
Cannot be returned for credit: controllers, chargers or kits that have been programmed, configured or installed; special orders and non-stock items brought in for you; made-to-order assemblies including cut-to-length cable; palletized or factory drop-shipped items once dispatched; hazardous materials. Full detail and refund timing is in our Refund Policy.
Lithium battery warranties
Lithium packs are warranted by their manufacturer on their own terms, which run well beyond our standard year. The manufacturer's published warranty document is the authoritative one in every case; the table below is a summary to help you find the right terms quickly.
| Brand | Battery | Charger | Other kit components |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hi-Power | 5 years from date of purchase | 90 days | — |
| MODZ | Limited lifetime, prorated: years 0–5 repair or replacement with a shipping and handling fee; years 5–7 at 50% of current MSRP; years 7–10 at 70%; after 10 years at 75% | 3 years | 1 year — state-of-charge meter, cables, solenoids, voltage reducers |
| Lithium Rhino | 8 years: full coverage months 1–72, then a fixed deductible for months 73–96 | 2 years at no cost, then 50% of current MSRP | 2 years — voltage reducers, displays, gauges, harnesses, switches, communication modules |
Register your battery — this one matters
MODZ and Lithium Rhino both require you to register the battery, and the coverage above is reduced if you don't.
- MODZ — register within 60 days of purchase. Registration also satisfies the manufacturer's chassis documentation requirement.
- Lithium Rhino — register within 120 days of purchase. An unregistered Rhino battery is covered for one year instead of eight.
Register directly with the manufacturer, through their app or support channel. Keep your proof of purchase — every brand requires it. If you are not sure whether your battery is registered, contact us and we will point you to the right place.
Other battery conditions worth knowing
- Use the supplied or an approved charger. Charging a lithium pack with a non-approved charger voids coverage on every brand we carry.
- Commercial, fleet and rental use is restricted. MODZ excludes it from the lifetime warranty entirely; Lithium Rhino requires written approval and otherwise limits coverage to three years. If the cart earns money, tell us before you buy and we will get the right answer in writing.
- Bypassing or tampering with the BMS voids coverage.
- Freight on a battery claim follows the manufacturer's terms, not our standard one-year terms — in some cases they cover it, in others a fixed handling fee applies. We will tell you which before you ship.
- Lithium batteries must be returned in lithium-compliant packaging with correct hazard labelling. Ask us before shipping one.
- Hi-Power packs have additional usage terms: Hi-Power Lithium Batteries Usage and Warranty Return Policy.
How to start a claim
- Email matt@electricdrivesolutions.com or call (717) 421-9988.
- Have ready: your order number or proof of purchase, the part number, the equipment make, model and year, and a description of the failure. Photographs help, and photographs of the packaging are essential on a shipping-damage claim.
- Do not install a part you believe is defective, and contact us before installing a part that arrived damaged or looks wrong. Installing it limits what we can do.
- We issue an RMA with return instructions. Ship it prepaid and insured — you carry the risk of loss until it reaches us.
- We evaluate, then issue the replacement or credit.
Shipping damage is different
Title and risk of loss pass to you when we hand the goods to the carrier, so transit damage is a carrier claim rather than a warranty claim. Inspect your delivery on arrival, photograph the packaging and the part, and contact us the same day — we will file and support the claim with you. Details in our Shipping Policy.
Every part we sell is new
We do not sell remanufactured or refurbished hardware and we charge no core fees, which is why a manufacturer warranty applies to what you buy from us in the first place. See our Brand New Promise.
